Rally to End Sacrifice Zones in Santa Fe

  • 301 Dinosaur Trail Santa Fe, NM, 87508 United States (map)

Eileen & the In-Betweens will be performing to support the Rally to End Sacrifice Zones at the Bureau of Land Management Office in Santa Fe on Thursday, May 25th at noon.

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) New Mexico State Office is planning to auction off 10,123 acres of public and ancestral lands in New Mexico and Kansas to the oil and gas industry on May 25, 2023.

In spite of a clear scientific, political, and public consensus that climate action requires phasing out fossil fuels, the BLM is continuing the legacy of sacrifice zones in New Mexico by moving forward with the auction of additional public and ancestral lands to more oil and gas leasing and drilling.

Since 2016, many groups have protested in person at BLM offices and delivered millions of public comments challenging BLM oil and gas lease sales, despite BLM moving these oil and gas auctions online.

On Thursday May 25th 12-1pm we will rally at the BLM Santa Fe headquarters, 301 Dinosaur Trail, to urge the agency to cancel this lease sale. We will host speakers, music, photo opportunities, and deliver a coalition letter signed by over 200  organizations, continuing to call for an end to new oil and gas leasing and drilling across New Mexico, and an end to the federal fossil fuel program, which is responsible for more than one-quarter of U.S. climate emissions.

Join us in delivering the message that continuing to sacrifice public and ancestral lands for more oil and gas drilling is fueling climate chaos and taking a devastating toll on our clean air, pure water, and healthy lands.
